To break the cycle of incest in my family. My dad did it to me because his father did it to him, and his father before him and on and on. I want to break out and prove to my family and myself it can be done. A family can exist without raping the children.

why do the jw ?
by heathen inwhy do the jw lock their publications in cabinets ?i noticed on my visits to the local cong.
that they are so anal about their publications in the congregations that they have locks on their cabinets where they keep the magazines and bibles .
i can't help but wonder if they are worried about the publishers helping themselves .well ,i'm open to any explainations.

Yeah, I was going to say it might just be a local congregation thing. When I was literature servant, we would shut the cabinet doors, but they were never locked (I don't even think they had locks on them). The only problem we would have is the pioneers advancing themselves literature and forgetting to tell us.

Requiem
by wasasister intomorrow, mozart's requiem mass will be performed in every time zone around the world.
it's being called the "rolling requiem" and the idea originated in seattle.
most, if not all, performances are free of charge.. although this piece of music was written with the latin words of a ritual roman catholic death mass, the music is transcendent of religion.

Hey Farkel,
I've heard theories that Mozart's death was at the hands of the Freemasons. As the story goes supposedly the Masons were angry at Mozart for revealing certain Masonic secrets in _____ (ack! Alzheimer's has struck; can't remember the opera). Do you put any stock in those theories? Or do you think he died young because of a full throttle lifestyle? Just wondering . . . .

I didn't get angry and I didn't get sad, I just went numb.
Yeah, that's kinda how I felt. I was in a daze and everything felt unreal as if my mind just wasn't accepting what I was seeing. I work at night and normally wake up around 10 a.m., but that morning, for some reason, I woke up a few minutes before 8 a.m. and I was immediately wide awake. I turned the TV on just a few seconds before the second plane hit. I get goosebumps just remembering how I felt when I saw it.
That was the most bizarre day of my life.

DID YOU EVER LEARN anything because you were a JW?
by minimus inwas there ever anything positive from being a witness?
could you say that because you were a witness at least......or was it all negative?

I learned to have the courage to stand up for what I believe in. All those years in school, going up to each new teacher and telling them the holidays I couldn't participate in and the pledge of allegiance (I was told I couldn't stand up, so I didn't) every morning was tough but I learned that what I believe is more important than other people's opinions of me. That skill proved very useful when I stood up to the Witnesses later in life. I found out that it's what you have inside that matters, everything else is just for show.

DFing the newly Reinstated? Yes !
by Amazing inin my other thread an excellent question was asked: what i wonder is: can they disfellowship me for stopping the attendance immediately after my reinstatement?
what could they do, apart from being a terrible nuisance?.
some ex-jw choose to get reinstated so that they can have some certain family ties, and then just function with a low profile and then fade away ... but officially stay a jw for family sake.

You can be DF'd for anything, all it takes is the will to do so. If a body of elders,or even a few of them, want you out, then they'll come up with a reason and DF you.
